Dental Bridges are used to replace a missing tooth or teeth. It is called a bridge because it spans the missing tooth space and is attached at either end to other teeth for support. An artificial tooth is connected to the supporting teeth and replaces the missing tooth.
Advantages
Can usually be completed in 2-3 visits.
It is “fixed” and not removable, so it feels more like your own natural teeth.
Can be used when there is not enough jaw bone to support a dental implant.
Disadvantages
Grinds down healthy teeth used to support the bridge.
Puts more stress on the supporting teeth.
More challenging to clean and to keep clean.
Needs to be replaced periodically every 5-10 years.
